We are pleased to share a new column published by Moja-dolenjska.si, a regional online news portal, entitled “Sustainable Development Is Part of Our Everyday Life” (Trajnostni razvoj je del našega vsakdana). The column presents sustainable development and Agenda 2030 in an accessible way, showing how these concepts are closely connected to our everyday lives and to decisions made at the local, regional, national, and European levels.

The column highlights that sustainable development goes beyond environmental protection and also concerns areas such as health, education, decent work, equality, clean water, mobility, housing, and quality of life. It emphasises the importance of local and regional action in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and points to technology and innovation as important tools for improving public services, increasing efficiency, supporting more sustainable production, and addressing contemporary societal challenges. At the same time, technological solutions need to be supported by appropriate investment, skills, regulation, and cooperation among different stakeholders.

The article also presents the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence “Technology and Innovations for Agenda 2030 – EU Global Leadership” (TIA2030) and its contribution to exploring how Agenda 2030 is implemented within the European Union and beyond. Through research, teaching, workshops, and other activities, the project brings together researchers, students, public institutions, professionals, businesses, civil society, and other interested stakeholders. One of the key messages of the column is that sustainable development is not something distant or abstract, but something reflected in the everyday choices and decisions shaping our communities and our future.

The full column is available through this link (the column is prepared in the Slovenian language).
