The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre has published a report, "A pathway to Europe’s competitiveness: The clean transition", which examines how the clean transition can strengthen Europe’s long-term competitiveness.

The report considers climate action, energy, the circular economy, mobility, agri-food systems, biodiversity and ecosystem protection, explaining how coordinated progress in these areas can contribute to a more resilient and resource-secure Europe.

The report connects technological innovation with the wider institutional, economic and social conditions required to advance sustainable development. Its central message is that environmental ambitions and competitiveness can reinforce one another when action is coordinated across sectors and levels of governance.
