Art and Agenda 2030

In November, the European Parliament hosted an exhibition of artworks ("The Global Goals") by artist Leon Löwentraut, interpreting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. By transforming each SDG into a visual story, the exhibition brings the Agenda 2030 closer to the public in a way that data and policy documents alone cannot achieve.

This initiative resonates strongly with the discussions we’ve held throughout last year in the TIA2030 project, during the thematic sessions and roundtable discussions: public awareness is a vital component of the EU’s efforts to advance sustainable development, and art plays an important role in this process. It communicates values, raises visibility of global challenges and encourages engagement across borders, showing how creative expression and culture - key elements of our cognitive frames - can complement technological innovations and institutional actions in advancing the Agenda 2030.
