In August 2025, our team successfully organised a multi-day joint international field trip to Geneva and Zurich (from 25.8.2025 to 29.8.2025). Various target groups, such as students, researchers, and external stakeholders, took part.
During the field trip, we visited some of the main United Nations institutions and other leading organisations. There, we had the opportunity to discuss and learn about the United Nations' approach to carrying out Agenda 2030 and its SDGs, and met professionals with hands-on experience in implementing Agenda 2030 and addressing issues related to technology and innovation.
Among the organisations were: the UEFA Headquarters, where we explored how technology, innovation, sustainability, and cutting-edge infrastructure can be integrated into the operations of an international organisation; the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), where we gained insights into how IPR foster and manage innovation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship; the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) (Palais des Nations), which illustrated the EU’s role in global governance through diplomacy and soft power, highlighting how multilateral cooperation contributes to sustainable development; CERN, the world’s largest particle physics laboratory, where we explored how frontier science and big data technologies expand not only technological but also social and cognitive perspectives; the Greater Zurich Area, which provided a concrete example of how regional innovation ecosystems attract global talent and investment, showing the importance of regional development in Europe’s competitiveness; ETH Zurich, a world-leading university, where we saw how excellence in science, education, and entrepreneurship can drive sustainable innovations and reinforce Europe’s position as a global actor in technology and knowledge.
